What it is not

ScanWow is not an expense tracker. It does not add up totals, sort spending into categories, or export spreadsheets. It keeps a clean, searchable copy of every receipt so the paper can go, and it gives you PDFs to hand to your accountant or attach in your accounting app.

A receipt routine in four steps

Scan each receipt the day you get it, or import the PDF when it lands in your email.
Check the name. Smart naming suggests one from the receipt text; rename it with the date and vendor if you like.

Privacy and where your receipts go

ScanWow reads text on your device by default, and your scans are never stored on our servers. A page is only sent for AI cleanup when you tap Magic Enhance on it (Anthropic Claude, with Google Gemini as a backup). To keep every receipt on your device, turn off Magic Cloud in Settings and leave iCloud Backup and Secure API Export off. Details are on the Privacy Policy.

Common questions

Is ScanWow an expense tracker?

No. ScanWow scans, reads, and organizes receipts so you can find and share them. It does not add up totals, sort expenses into categories, or export spreadsheets. Many people pair it with their accounting app or send the PDFs to their accountant.

Can I search my receipts by vendor or amount?

Yes. ScanWow reads the text on every receipt, and search in the app matches the words and numbers on it, plus the document name. Type a store name or an amount to find the receipt again.

Can I import receipts that were emailed to me?

Yes. Open a PDF receipt from Mail or Files, or import a receipt photo from Photos, and ScanWow reads it like a new scan. A PDF import brings in up to 20 pages.

How do I get receipts to my accountant?

Select the receipts you want in your library and export them as one PDF, or share a single receipt as a PDF. Exported PDFs are image-based today, so name files clearly to find them later in Files.
